The Cassandra effect refers to the phenomenon where valid warnings or predictions are dismissed or ignored by others, only to be acknowledged after the predicted event has occurred. The term is derived from Greek mythology, where Cassandra was cursed to make accurate prophecies that no one believed. In the context of psychology and decision-making, the Cassandra effect highlights the tendency for people to downplay or deny information that challenges their beliefs or preferences, leading to missed opportunities or negative outcomes. This effect underscores the importance of being open-minded and receptive to alternative perspectives and information. **

If you are feeling uncomfortable or unsafe due to unwanted touching from boys in your class, it is important to speak to a trusted adult or authority figure about the situation. Remember that it is never okay for someone to touch you without your consent. **

She touches me in class by gently placing her hand on my shoulder when she comes around to check on my work. Sometimes, she lightly taps my desk to get my attention or to emphasize a point during a lesson. Additionally, she occasionally gives me a reassuring pat on the back when she sees that I am struggling with a task. Overall, her touches are subtle and supportive, creating a sense of connection and encouragement in the classroom. **

If the touching continues despite your objections, it may be necessary to seek help from a teacher or school counselor to address the situation.
